CREDIT UNION COUNTY LEAGUE DIV. 5.
Asdee 0-15 Lispole 2-13

Lispole kept their promotion hopes very much alive on Sunday last at Walsh Park, Asdee when they recorded a hard earned 4pts win over the home side who will rue some glorious goal opportunities and once again when they seemed to be in the driving seat they made some silly mistakes which led to Lispole on this occasion getting in for those match winning scores. The opening half saw Asdee dominate the opening 9mts as they went 5pts up without reply with Jermiah Tydings very much to the fore in attack. However Lispole weathered the storm and a goal from Brendan Hanafin after 15mts left only a point separating the sides. The remainder of the half saw both teams play some good football and at the break the sides were level for the third time in this half. Lispole 1-5 Asdee 0-8. Within 2mts on resumption came what was to be the most crucial score in the game when Alan Dorgan saw himself unmarked 20 meters from goal and he shot low to the net to give the visitors a lead they were never to relinquish. From here on in it was a ding dong struggle with play swinging from end to end and some excellent scores been taken on both sides. In fairness the home side kept plugging away and were very unlucky in some of their scoring attempts and especially when the outstanding Noel Long saw his attempt at goal come back off the crossbar in the 9th mt at a time when the sides would have been level. Still despite some poor shooting Asdee kept in touch but Lispole did have the better scoring power when it mattered most despite having their impressive Declan O Sullivan having to retire injured after just 11mts of the second half and when the final whistle sounded it was Lispole who came out on top. Declan O Sullivan, 5pts, Cathal O Sullivan, 3pts, John Dorgan and Denis Devane were prominent on the winning side while for the home side Noel Long, Jermiah Tydings, 7pts, Paul O Carroll and Eoin Kennedy impressed. Teams; Asdee James Kelly, Brian Coughlan, Dinny Dalton, David Ruddle, Kieran McElligott, Noel Long, 2pts, Eamon McElligott, John Doran, Padraig Ruddle, Paul O Carroll, 3pts, Eoin Kennedy, 1pt, Liam McElligott, 1pt, Eoin O Mahony, Micheal Walsh, Jermiah Tydings, 7pts. CREDIT UNION COUNTY LEAGUE DIV.5.
Asdee 0-5 Dingle B 0-15

Having been impressive in their County League games to date our senior footballers made the long trip to Dingle on Saturday evening last to take on the local “B” side in a back game but unfortunately they left their true form behind them and suffered a heavy defeat which puts a dent on their promotion aspirations. Playing against the elements in the first half it took some time to get going and the loss of a few regulars didn’t help either and as a result they trailed at the interval, 0-6 to 0-2. On the resumption both the weather and the display by the visitors deteriorated to such an extent that Dingle who were now playing against the wind and rain just toyed with the opposition who made no impression for the final 30 minutes or so. Overall no excuses as the better team won on the day. Asdee team and scorers; James Kelly, Conor Coughlan, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Brian Coughlan, Eamon McElligott, Paul O Carroll, 2pts, Padraig Ruddle, Noel Long, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts, Liam McElligott, Micheal Walsh, Darren Russell, Eoin Kennedy, 1pt, Eoin O Mahony. Subs, Dan Dalton, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, Mike Long, Timothy Carr, Padraig Buckley.

JUNIOR DIV. 5 NORTH KERRY LEAGUE FINAL. Asdee B 3-2 St. Senans C 5-7

St. Senans made no mistake at the second time of asking when they easily accounted for an Asdee side; and a winning margin of 11pts indicates the mastery of the Halfway boys in a disappointing McCarthys Brokers Division 5 Junior League Final replay played in excellent conditions at Dowling Park, Coolard on Thursday evening last. It was in fairness a very poor match but small blame to the winners for that because, truth to be told this was a very poor effort by Asdee. What contest there was lasted for around only the opening 15 minutes at a time when only a point seperated the sides 1-2 to 1-1 in Senans favour but even though Asdee did have a few goal opportunities at different stages there was never a doubt about the end result as Senans were in command, leading by example in fielding, pace, team-work and finishing. The game opened with James Barry who was to register 1-5 of his sides total lofting over a close in free inside the first minute but this was short lived as Asdee got the lift they needed and as in the drawn game Charlie Dalton latched on to a loose ball and blasted to the net. Senans kicked 4 wides in succession before Jermiah Tydings extended his sides lead with a good point in the 9th minute. The Shannonsiders were now matching their opponents in all departments up to this stage but then it all started to go wrong for Asdee; firstly Thomas Moroney after been placed by the impressive David Fitzmaurice had the simple task of finding the net in the 15th minute and then 3 minutes later they struck again for goal number two when a back pass from a defender to the Asdee keeper fell short and the veteran Mikie Behan was gifted his moment of glory. It was now all one way traffic with Senans in the driving seat despite kicking further wides they were awarded an injury time penalty which James Barry duly converted and Asdees only reply was a Brian O Hanlon point to leave the half time score; St. Senans 3-5 Asdee 1-2. Inside the 7th minute on resumption Senans had extended their lead further with James Barry lofting over yet another free and Johnny Daughton blasting to the net and now the margin was 13 points to the good for the Halfway boys. At this stage the game was really gone beyond Asdee as Senans used up their bench and even though Asdee did rally during the latter stages with Cyril Dineen and Mick Fitzsimons grabbing late goals they were never able to get close enough to trouble the winners despite squandering at least two clear goal chances. Jonathan Caffrey had the final say when he put number 5 past John Kennedy who in fairness had little chance of saving any. Senans who were almost caught napping in the drawn game were never in danger on this occasion and the many changes they made to their line-out on this occasion certainly worked; Micheal Lynch and Johnny Daughton marshalled a tight knit defence, Johnathan Caffrey and Jack Twomey ruled midfield while James Barry was unerring from frees and was ably supported by Austin Quilter and Brian Fitzmaurice. For Asdee who failed to lift their game only Cyril Dineen, second half, Brian O Hanlon, Charles Dalton, Mick Fitzsimons, John Gorman and to a lesser extent, Jermiah Tydings. After the game Secretary of the North Kerry Board and proud Senans man Tom Dillon was on hand to present the winners captain Johnathan Caffrey with the Cup. Team and scorers; John Kennedy, Denny Dalton, Sean Stack, Kenneth Tydings, Brian O Hanlon, 1pt, John Gorman, David O Connor, Niall Doran, Jermiah Tydings, 1pt, Mick Fitzsimons, 1gl, Donal O Carroll, Charlie Dalton, 1gl, Cyril Dineen, 1gl. Subs, Kieran McElligott for Niall Doran, inj, Darren Russell for Donal O Carroll, Dan (Daly) Dalton for Sean Stack. Thomas Mulvihill for David O Connor. Referee, John Ross, Ballyduff must be complimented for having his usual full team of match officials with him. Certainly other Referees should take note.

CREDIT UNION COUNTY LEAGUE DIV. 5.
Asdee 4-10 Laune Rangers B 3-9

Asdee senior footballers faced a tricky assignment when they travelled to Killorglin on Saturday evening last to take on the local B side who have been performing well in the County League Division 5 so far. However Asdee rose to the challenge that confronted them and after having to endure some anxious moments coming up to the final whistle they finished deserving winners in the end. The first half was a fairly evenly contested affair and goals from Cyril Dineen and Jermiah Tydings saw Asdee lead by the minimum at the interval, 2-5 to 1-7. On resumption the visitors took control from the throw in and driven on by the outstanding Noel Long and Padraig Ruddle taking the game to their opponents who were struggling to keep pace with the game with further goals from Noel Long and Cyril Dineen giving them a 9pt lead with under 5mts remaining. However the visitors took their leg off the pedal and Rangers got in for 2 late goals which really only helped to put a better gloss on the scoreboard. Team and scorers, James Kelly, Conor Coughlan, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Eamon McElligott, 1pt, Brian Coughlan, John Doran, Padraig Ruddle, Micheal Walsh, Noel Long, 1-3, Jermiah Tydings, 1-1, Eoin O Mahony, 1pt, Cyril Dineen, 2-2, Eoin Kennedy, 1pt. Subs, Darren Russell for Micheal Walsh, Mick Fitzsimons for Eoin O Mahony, Liam McElligott for Conor Coughlan. Kieran McElligott, Timothy Carr, Padraig Buckley.

JUNIOR FINAL.
Asdee B 1-10 St. Senans C 2-7.

Asdee and St. Senans will have to do it all again after 63 minutes of football failed to separate the sides in a trilling North Kerry League Division 5 Final played in perfect conditions at Brosnan Park, Moyvane on Tuesday evening last. Certainly Jermiah Tydings attacking skills are well known to football followers but on this occasion operating at right half forward he produced a display of power and aggression along with some wonderful free taking and was the games top scorer with 8pts. Granted this was a great team performance and for what its worth they also had to play the last 16 minutes with 14 men after Niall Doran got his marching orders on a second yellow which makes the draw that little more satisfying. The game opened with St. Senans who were pre match favourites getting off to the perfect start and were 3pts up without reply by the 5th minute, however Asdee eventually got on the scoreboard when Charles Dalton fly-kicked over in the 8th minute. Still it was Senans who were taking the game to their opponents and it took a superb save in the 11th minute from keeper, Cyril Dineen to keep his net intact. But driven on by centre forward, Mick Fitzsimons another stalwart; Asdee pressed forward and by the 14th minute the sides were all square at 4pts each. Level again in the 18th and 21st minute as the game swung from end to end; and for the remaining 9mts or so we saw plenty action and two goals as both sides went all out for scores. The first goal fell to St. Senans when a high delivery from James Barry in the 25th minute was finished to the net by Thomas Moroney. Not to be outdone and 4 minutes later an inch perfect pass by Jermiah Tydings set up Charles Dalton for a cracking goal and at the break it was St. Senans who led, 1-7 to 1-6. On the changeover Senans kicked a wide but at the other end Asdee were finding the target and 3pts in a row saw them take a 2pt lead by the 8th minute. Both defences tightened up considerably and scores were hard to come-by as wides on each side started to mount up. Asdee were still clinging to that 2pt lead as we approached the closing stages but when Brian Fitzmaurice was upended going through, Match Referee, Diarmuid O Carroll had no hesitation in awarding a penalty which was duly converted in some style by James Barry for their only score of this half and now with time almost up it looked as if the Cup would be going to the Halfway boys but on the stroke of the full time whistle Jermiah Tydings popped over his close-in free to tie up the game. Overall probably a draw was a fair result but on saying that the verdict could very well gone either way. The eagerly awaited replay will take place at Brosnan Park, Moyvane on Wednesday July 14th at 7 30pm. Team; Asdee; Cyril Dineen, Denny Dalton, Sean Stack, Kenneth Tydings, Brian O Hanlon, John Gorman, David O Connor, Niall Doran, Jermiah Tydings, 8pts, Mick Fitzsimons, Donal O Carroll, Charles Dalton, 1-1, John Kennedy, 1pt. Subs, Darren Russell for Donal O Carroll, Dan (Daly) Dalton for Dinny Dalton.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE DIV. 5.
Asdee B 2-12 Clounmacon B 0-12

By virtue of a hard earned 6pt victory Asdee Junior team who went into this game as complete outsiders at Dowling Park, Coolard turned the form upside down with a sparkling display of fast open football. The first half saw Asdee have the better of the play and a goal midway through the half from the boot of Mick Fitzsimons saw them go in at the break leading by 1-7 to 0-5. On resumption Clounmacon came out with all guns blazing and had Asdee having to work overtime especially in defence as Clounmacon were really putting on the pressure. Asdee weathered the storm and a goal at the three quarter stage from man of the match Charles Dalton settled the issue despite some brave efforts from the opposition and Asdee held on to record an excellent victory. The winners had Brian O Hanlon, Kenneth Tydings, Mick Fitzsimons, Dinny Dalton, Jermiah Tydings and Charles Dalton playing a huge part in this win which puts them into the final and a mouthwatering date with St. Senans. Team and subs; Cyril Dineen, Kenneth Tydings, Sean Stack, John Gorman, Brian O Hanlon, Dinny Dalton, Nial Doran, David O Connor, Jermiah Tydings, Mick Fitzsimons, Donal O Carroll, Charles Dalton, John Kennedy. Subs Darren Russell for Nial Doran, Dan Kearney for Donal O Carroll, Dan (Daly) Dalton for Dinny Dalton, Jack Scanlon for Sean Stack, Cathal Dalton, Mike Vallelly.

CREDIT UNION COUNTY LEAGUE, DIVISION 5. Asdee 0-9 Templenoe 1-8.

A scrambled goal from the boot of John Spillane in the final minute of a keenly contested game saw Templenoe snatch a dramatic victory at Walsh Park, Asdee last evening. Certainly Asdee had the winning of this game in their grasp but some sloppy play, needless frees and above all some players under-performing which proved costly in the end.The opening half saw very little seperate the teams in terms of football but it was the visitors inspired by centre forward Teddy Doyle who made the most of their scoring opportunities and at half time they led by 0-5 to 0-2. Within 6 minutes of the restart Asdee had drawn level with Jermiah Tydings in great scoring form and for the remainder of the game it was nip and tuck as play swung from end to end. The sides were level again after 16mts but suddenly Asdee started to take a grip on the game and Eoin Kennedy kicked 2 good points and as we approached the final minutes it looked as if the home team would survive the late rally by Templenoe but perseverance paid off and John Spillane became their hero of the hour with that late goal. For Asdee, Jermiah Tydings, 5pts was easily his sides best performer in attack while Eoin Kennedy also showed up well at times. David Ruddle, Brian Coughlan and Brian O Hanlon were excellent defenders with both John Doran and Liam McElligott trying hard at midfield. Overall a draw would have been a fair result but its all about taking your scoring opportunities and that is what Templenoe did. Asdee, James Kelly, Conor Coughlan, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Brian Coughlan, Eamon McElligott, Paul O Carroll, John Doran, 2pts, Liam McElligott, Micheal Walsh, Noel Long, Padraig Ruddle, Eoin O Mahony, Eoin Kennedy, 2pts, Jermiah Tydings, 5pts. Subs, Mick Fitzsimons for Micheal Walsh, Darren Russell for Padraig Ruddle, Charles Dalton for Conor Coughlan.

COUNTY LEAGUE DIV 5.
Asdee 2-10 Kilgarvan 2-3

Asdee senior footballers who are flying high at the moment made the long trek to Kilgarvan on Saturday evening last and after their share of defeats at this venue down through the years they turned in a scintillating team performance to defeat the locals in what was always going to be a tough hard struggle. Certainly each member of the team rose to the occasion and consolidated their top three position in the Division 5 League table with a superb brand of fast open football that had the home side at sixes and sevens at times but in fairness Kilgarvan had their moments also but they never seemed able to match the determination of their opponents who were overall full value for their 7pt victory at the end of the game. Asdee were well in control during the first half and goals from Eoin Kennedy and Michael Walsh had them leading 2-6 to 1-1 at the break. However Kilgarvan came out with all guns blazing in the second half and reduced that lead to a couple of points by the end of the first quarter. For the remainder of the game it was tit for tat but the visitors who introduced their full quota of substitutes soaked up the pressure and finished the game strongly and in the remaining 6mts added three further points to secure a fantastic result and even though there is a long way to go this win keeps them well in touch in the race for promotion. Asdee had many stars on the evening but none more-so than Paul O Carroll at wing back who covered every blade of grass on the field and was easily the games man of the match, Brian Coughlan and Mike Long also shone brightly in defence with keeper James Kelly turning in his usual top class display making a number of fine saves at vital stages of the match. John Doran and Liam McElligott more than held their own at midfield while in attack Noel Long, Eoin Kennedy and Cyril Dineen caused endless problems for their markers. Team and scorers; James Kelly, Mike Long, Brian Coughlan, David Ruddle, Kieran McElligott, Eamon McElligott, Paul O Carroll, John Doran, 1pt, Liam McElligott, 1pt, Michael Walsh, 1gl, Noel Long, Eoin Kennedy, 1-2, Eoin O Mahony, 1pt, Cyril Dineen, 3pts, Jermiah Tydings. Subs, Seam McElligott for Michael Walsh, David O Connor for Kieran McElligott, Timothy Carr, 1pt for Jermiah Tydings, Dinny Dalton for David Ruddle.

NORTH KERRY JUNIOR LEAGUE.
Asdee B 2-4 Clounmacon B 2-10

Even though Asdee failed to break the stranglehold held by Clounmacon in recent clashes they were already assured of a semi final place when they played out a rather one sided affair to the home side at Pairc Na Gaeil on Tuesday evening last. The home side got off to a blistering start when Anthony Stack struck for a goal inside the first minute and Clounmacon went 5pts ahead before Asdee opened their account. It was all Clounmacon in that first half and at the interval held a comfortable lead of 1-6 to 0-2. It was more of the same during the second half with the home team dominating and a further goal from Joe Galvin sealed the issue long before the sound of the final whistle. Asdee did get in for two late goals scored by Cyril Dineen but in fairness it only served to put a better gloss on the scoreboard. Scorers; Asdee, Cyril Dineen, 2gls, Jermiah Tydings, 4pts, Clounmacon, Fintan McEnery, 4pts, Joe Galvin and Anthony Stack 1gl each, Mike Collins, John Walsh, Seamus Twomey, 2pts each. Asdee; Dan Kearney, Kenneth Tydings, Sean Stack, Mike Vallelly, John Gorman, Jack Scanlon, David O Connor, Niall Doran, Jermiah Tydings, Cyril Dineen, Timothy Carr, Padraig Buckley, John Kennedy. Subs, Micheal Piggott, Dan (Daly) Dalton.

COUNTY NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Asdee 0-7 Listry 1-16

Asdee senior footballers bowed out of this years Novice Championship at the quarter final stage played at Listry on Saturday evening last where the locals had always the upper hand on proceedings and in fairness even though Asdee who were very much understrength they put up a brave effort but were always playing catch-up football against a home side who were really up for the game and on this display and with the excellent football played they may not be too far away when the silverware will be given out. With both Derry Aherne and Anthony Sweeney very much to the fore and causing endless problems for their markers it was Listry who held a comfortable 0-10 to 0 0-3 lead at the interval. However the visitors did make an impression early on during the second half and after reducing that lead to just 5pts they squandered two glorious goal opportunities but that was as good as it really got because Listry once again took control and when Derry Aherne goaled coming up to the end of the third quarter the game was really over as a contest with the visitors clutching at straws for the remainder of the game. Overall a fully deserved win for Listry who gave a truly wonderful team performance. They had John Paul Mannix, Jimmy O Leary, Derry Aherne, Anthony Sweeney and Paul Darmody to mention a few giving sterling performances while for Asdee Brian O Hanlon, Eamon McElligott, John Doran, Paul O Carroll and Noel Long tried hard. Scorers; Listry, Anthony Sweeney, 5pts, Derry Aherne, 1-2, Danny Clifford, 3pts, Mike Tagney and John Foley, 2pts each, Paul Darmody, Danny Wren, 1pt each. Asdee; Paul O Carroll, 4pts, (3f) Jermiah Tydings, 3pts (2f). Asdee, Jermiah Kelly, David Ruddle, Brian O Hanlon, Mike Long, Brian Coughlan, Eamon McElligott, David O Connor, John Doran, Padraig Ruddle, Paul O Carroll, 4pts, 3f, Noel Long, Liam McElligott, Timothy Carr, Jack Scanlon, Jermiah Tydings, 3pts, 2f.

COUNTY LEAGUE DIV 5.
Asdee 1-9 Ballylongford 2-6
.

This eagerly awaited local derby game between fellow parishioners and great rivals certainly lived up to expectations at Walsh Park last evening where they clashed in Round 3 of the Credit Union County league and when the final whistle sounded the teams failed to be separated but it took a point from Jermiah Tydings deep into injury time to give the home side a share of the spoils. As other clashes between the sides have gone this was always going to be a tense affair and I suppose this is due to the fact that the majority of the players have played all their underage football together which brings an added edge to all clashes between the sides. This game was no different but it must be added that even though there were a number hard knocks the game was always played in a sporting manner and had the good sized crowd were in full voice throughout. The strong wind that blew directly downfield failed to dampen the spirits of two teams that were in search of vital County League points and the visitors playing against the elements got off to the perfect start when Eddie Mangan ghosted in behind the Asdee defence and he cracked home a 5th minute goal after the home side failed in an effort to open their account 2mts earlier. Eoin Kennedy got his side off the mark when he lofted over in the 9th mt. but the home side failed in three other efforts to narrow the gap. Scores were hard to come-by and it took until the 15th mt before Jermiah Tydings got the first of his tally of 5pts, 4 of which came from frees. Brian Coughlan landed a massive kick from all of 5O meters that landed on top of the net to level up the tie. However Derek Nolan who was enjoying plenty possession around the middle of the field put his side ahead in the 19th mt. At this stage Asdee seemed to be getting a foothold on the game even though Bally did kick a few wides it was Jermiah Tydings who was unerring from frees and a three in a row of points had the home side in command coming up to the break. Then deep into injury time Bally struck for a vital goal when Referee Eddie Barrett adjudged that one of the Asdee defenders fouled and a penalty was awarded which in turn was expertly put away by Stephen Donegan which left the half time score; Asdee 0-6 Bally 2-1. When the teams came out for the second half it looked as if the visitors would hold all the aces and Asdee now playing against the wind would struggle to contain a lively attack; however the home side stuck to the difficult task that confronted them and in the process both teams rose to the occasion and we were treated to an excellent second half of good open football. Within 1mt of the restart corner back Liam Foley came downfield to kick a fine score and by the 15th mt Bally had gone 2-5 to 0-7 ahead with points from Joe McCarthy, 2pts and Shane O Hanlon with the home sides only reply coming from Jermiah Tydings, (2). Certainly the remaining 15mts were nip and tuck and when Noel Long cut through to score a well worked goal in the 17th mt the tie really came to life. Paul O Carroll from a free levelled up the game after 20mts but it was the visitors who struck once again for the lead when Eddie Mangan oblidged after 24mts of this half. Both sides were guilty of some bad shooting as play swung from end to end and at this stage it looked as if Bally would hold out for victory but the home side with virtually the last kick of the game kicked the equaliser courtesey of Jermiah Tydings from play and the sides finished on level terms. Overall a draw was probably a fair result but when both sides look back on the game they will rue some missed scoring opportunities that could have swung the game either way. Both sides had good performers and for Asdee Jermiah Tydings, Noel Long, Liam McElligott and John Doran impressed while for Bally Maurice O Halloran, Derek Nolan, Stephen Foley and Eddie Mangan were among their best players. Teams and scorers; Asdee, James Kelly, Kieran McElligott, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Brian Coughlan, 1pt, Eamon McElligott, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, John Doran, Padraig Ruddle, Michael Walsh, Noel Long, 1gl, Liam McElligott, Eoin O Mahony, Eoin Kennedy, 2pts, Jermiah Tydings, 5pts. Subs, Cyril Dineen for Michael Walsh. Bally, Shane O Sullivan, Mossie Kendrick, Pat Kennelly, Stephen Foley, 1pt, Kenneth Foley, Daniel Lane, Cathal O Carroll, Shane O Hanlon, 1pt, Derek Nolan, 1pt, Joe McCarthy, 2pts, Brendan Bambury, Maurice O Halloran, Stephen Donegan, 1gl, Eddie Mangan, 1pt, Liam McCarthy. Subs, Niall Heaphy for Daniel Lane, Joseph O Brien for Stephen Foley.. Referee, Eddie Barrett, Knocknagoshel.

COUNTY LEAGUE DIV. 5.
Asdee 3-12 Strand Road 1-3.

Asdee senior footballers had a tricky assignment on Saturday evening last when they faced a Strand Road side who were playing at home and given that the Tralee boys were impressive up to date in the County League put added pressure on the visitors who were expected to win. However Asdee rose to the occasion in style and despite squandering at least 3 goal opportunities during the first quarter that in fairness went just at the wrong side of the upright; but they still led by a 12pt margin at the interval. Now certainly Strand Road may be short a few regulars but this cannot take away from a super team performance by the visitors especially during the opening half when they ran the home side ragged with some spellbinding moves that led to some excellent scores. Each of the six forwards plus the two midfielders got on the scoresheet and to cap a great afternoon Asdee had the Man of the Match in centre back, 17 year old Eamon McElligott who never put a foot wrong throughout the game. Asdee made their intentions known from the throw-in and led 1-5 to no score by the 18th minute before the home side opened their account 2mts later. The goal coming from a high delivery by Michael Walsh that was misjudged by the keeper and ended up in the net. Never-the-less Asdee were totally in control and it was the workrate of entire team that led to Strand Road making mistakes that was punished by a lively attack and a further goal from Padraig Ruddle left the visitors well ahead; Asdee 2-8 Strand Road 0-2. On the resumption Asdee were aided by a slight breeze but it was the home side who had upped the tempo of their game only to find that their were very few weak links in the Asdee rearguard who closed down their opponents at every opportunity and in the process forcing their opposite numbers in kicking wides. A silly error in what was otherwise a solid defence led to Strand Road being awarded a penalty which was duly converted at the three quarter stage but it was still Asdee who led despite only registering one point since the start of the second half. However during the remaining 10mts or so the visitors went on a scoring spree and goal number 3 scored by Noel Long in the 28th minute left the issue in no doubt as to who were in total command of the situation. This was the perfect platform before we take on our fellow parishioners Ballylongford in an eagerly awaited game Round 4 on Saturday next at Walsh Park; but once again only a full blooded performance will suffice if we are to overcome our great rivals. Team and scorers; James Kelly, Conor Coughlan, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Paul O Carroll, 2pts, Eamon McElligott, Brian Coughlan, John Doran, 1pt, Padraig Ruddle, 1-2, Liam McElligott, 1pt, Noel Long, 1gl, Michael Walsh, 1-1, Eoin O Mahony, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy, 1pt, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts. Subs Mick Fitzsimons, 1pt for Michael Walsh, David O Connor for David Ruddle.

North Kerry Junior League.
Asdee 2-7 Knockanure 0-6

Brosnan Park Moyvane was the venue on this occasion where Asdee turned in a superb performance to defeat Knockanure who were pre match favourites going into this game. However the visitors got stuck in from the word go and a Cyril Dineen goal after 5mts helped them on their way to an interval lead of 1-5 to 0-3. Knockanure came more into the game in the second half but were always finding it hard to break down a solid defence in which centre back Brian O Hanlon excelled. A second goal from Man of the Match Cyril Dineen 10mts from time put paid to what ever chance Knockanure had of victory. This latest win has put Asdee well on the way to the knockout stages of the competition. Team and scorers; Dan Kearney, Sean “Red” Stack, Kenneth Tydings, Thomas Mulvihill, Brian O Hanlon, John O Gorman, Nial Doran, David O Connor, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts, Mick Fitzsimons, Donal O Carroll, 1pt, Charles Dalton, 1pt, Cyril Dineen, 2-1. Subs used, Cathal Dalton, 1pt, Mike Vallelly, Padraig Buckley.

JUNIOR LEAGUE.
Asdee B 2-8 Brosna B 3-3.

Even though only 2pts separated the side at the full time whistle this did not certainly reflect on the dominance by the visitors who enjoyed the majority of possession all through in a keenly contested encounter played at Brosna on Monday evening last in Round 2 of the McCarthys Insurance League. Asdee with David O Connor and Niall Doran more than holding their own at midfield led by example and even though the forwards bombarded the Brosna defence with some excellent moves created by veteran John Kennedy and Mick Fitzsimons but two goals conceded by what was otherwise a teak tough Asdee defence saw them trail at the interval by 2-1 to 0-6. On the changeover Asdee continued to impress but on saying that Brosna had their moments too but the overall strength of the opposition proved to be the deciding factor as we approached the end. John Kennedy got through for a well taken goal just after the break which was followed by another with under 10mts to go by a cracker from David O Connor and at this stage the visitors were cruising and leading by a 5pt margin. In fairness the game was over at this stage but a late surge saw Brosna cut the deficit to 2pts with a late goal. Overall a great team performance from Asdee who had in particular besides those already mentioned in top form; Brian O Hanlon, Cyril Dineen, Donal O Carroll and Jermiah Tydings. As the appointed referee failed to show up it was left to Patsy Coughlan to officiate. Team and scorers; Dan Kearney, Kenneth Tydings, John O Gorman, Brian O Hanlon, Donal O Carroll, David O Connor, 1gl, Nial Doran, John Kennedy, 1-2, Mick Fitzsimons, 1pt, Jermiah Tydings, 3pts, Padraig Buckley, Cyril Dineen, 2pts. Subs used, Sean Stack, Cathal Dalton, Eamon Doran, Joe Holly.

COUNTY NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Asdee 2-12 Clounmacon 1-5.

Asdee senior footballers left their indifferent form behind them when they easily accounted for Clounmacon in Round 1 of the Novice County Championship played at Walsh Park, Asdee on Saturday evening last. In fairness to both teams they were very much understrength but the home team were better able to cope and were always a step ahead of their opponents in both football and determination and fully deserved their 10pt winning margin. The foundations of victory was laid at midfield where both Noel Long and John Doran lorded proceedings and with the Asdee attack enjoying plenty possession they ran the opposing defence raggad and only for some poor shooting in front of goal the the final outcome could have been at least doubled. The game got underway with the home side quickly into attack and goals from Noel Long, 8th mt and Jermiah Tydings in the 17th mt saw the home team in complete control and at the interval led 2-8 to 0-3. On resumption Clounmacon did try to make a game of it but they were always struggling to make any headway against a a teak tough Asdee defence in which both Brian O Hanlon and Conor Coughlan excelled. However the visitors did get in for a goal 10mts from the end scored by substitute John Walsh but really it helped to only put a bit of respectability on the scoreboard. Besides those already mentioned Liam McElligott and Paul O Carroll deserve mention. Teams and scorers; Asdee, James Kelly, Mike Long, Brian O Hanlon, Kenneth Tydings, Conor Coughlan, Eamon McElligott, Brian Coughlan, Noel Long, 1gl, John Doran, 2pts, Jermiah Tydings, 1-5, Liam McElligott, 3pts, Micheal Walsh, Eoin O Mahony, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Darren Russell. Subs David O Connor for Mike Long, Mick Fitzsimons for Micheal Walsh, Charles Dalton for Kenneth Tydings, Kieran McElligott for Conor Coughlan, Padraig Buckley for Paul O Carroll. MINORS. Asdee/Bally 1-8 Skellig/Valentia 3-16. Our Minor footballers made the long trip to Portmagee on Wednesday evening last to take on the locals in the Keanes County Minor League Division 5 “A” Semi Final but unfortunately without the services of County Minor star David Culhane they were always going to have an uphill battle on their hands against a much better balanced home side who after a sluggish enough start pulled away during a one sided second half to record a 14 point winning margin and a place in the decider against Beale. The game got underway with the combination side quickly out of blocks and a Kenneth Foley goal saw them lead 1-3 to 1-2 after 10mts. It was 1-6 a piece coming up to half time but the home side struck for 2 goals and at the interval it was the South Kerry side who led 3-6 to 1-6. On the changeover it was all one way traffic and a further 10pts against 2 for the opposition who had to play against a stiffish wind left the final outcome in no doubt as to who were worthy winners.Even in defeat the combination side had some excellent performers and Eamon McElligott, Cathal Carmody and Kenneth Foley were strong in defence, Jermiah Tydings and Matt O Connor tried hard at midfield while up front Darren Russell was always to the fore. Team and scorers; Shane O Sullivan, Eamon McElligott, 1pt, Cathal Carmody, Thomas Kennedy, Kenneth Foley, 1gl, Luke O Driscoll, Jermiah Tydings, 6pts, Matt O Connor, Con Carmody, Darren Russell, 1pt, Tommy McKeown, Micheal Tydings, Conor McEllistrim. Sub Padraig Buckley for Conor McEllistrim.

COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 0-4 St. Senans 0-16.

From the outset the visitors were in command leading by example in fielding, pace, team work and finishing and it was only for brief periods of the game did the home side trouble the visitors. Certainly Senans had the games Man of the Match in Sean O Connell and the elusive corner forward gave the Asdee defence a torrid time with his unerring accuracy from frees scoring a tally of 12pts with 2 coming from play. The opening half saw Asdee start brightly and after 10mts the sides were on level terms at 1pt each. However at this stage suddenly it started to go all wrong for the home side; sloppy passing of the ball, promising moves breaking down due to over elaboration on the ball and a defence well marshalled by 17 year old Eamon McElligott that was holding their own against a skilful St. Senans attack up to now started to concede some silly frees and Sean O Connell took full advantage and at the break it was St. Senans who led 0-8 to 0-1. On resumption Asdee did try to make a game of it and had cut the deficit to a 5pt margin by the 12th minute with centre back Eamon McElligott getting the first of his long range points despite midfielder John Doran receiving his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the 17th mt; but once Senans weathered that early storm they pulled away from their opponents kicking over points with considerable ease and ran out comfortable winners at the final whistle. For St. Senans who gave a wonderful team performance had James O Donnell, and Padraig Somers solid at the back. Midfield saw Brendan Whelan and Jason Brown dominating and in a lively attack Sean O Connell and Benny Somers excelled. For Asdee, Eamon McElligott was their top performer while Noel Long, Liam McElligott, and Cyril Dineen had their moments. Teams and scorers; St. Senans, Jack Somers, Bredan Quinlan, Philip Twomey, James O Donnell, David O Donnell, Padraig Somers, Liam Somers, Brendan Whelan, Jason Brown, Ronan Kerins, 2pts, Benny Somers, Johnny Daughton, 1pt, Sean O Connell,12pts, Alan Doran, Brendan O Connell, 1pt. Subs, Richie Kelliher for David O Donnell, Paul Walsh for Brendan Whelan, Austin Quilter for Johnny Daughton, Paudie Whelan for Alan Doran. Asdee, James Kelly, Mike Long, Brian O Hanlon, Paul O Carroll, Brian Coughlan, Eamon McElligott, 2pts, Conor Coughlan, Noel Long, John Doran, Padraig Ruddle, Liam McElligott, Michael Walsh, Cyril Dineen, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts, Darren Russell. Sub Eoin O Mahony for Mike Long, inj. Referee, Diarmuid O Carroll, Ballyduff.

COUNTY JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP.
Asdee 0-3 Churchill 2-11

The gulf in class was very much in evidence at Walsh Park on Sunday morning last where the pre match favourites Churchill completely out played Asdee especially during the second half when the home side could only register 2 further points to their first half tally of 1pt. The opening half saw the visitors get quickly into attack and it took a tremendous save in the first minute from James Kelly in the Asdee goals to deny Mark O Connor of what looked a certain goal. Benny Dillon opened their account with a neat point in the second minute and even though they were taking the game to Asdee they were struggling to put scores on the board but this was due to some heroic defending by the home defence. Asdee who were living on scraps all through and the few scoring opportunities that came their way was squandered and especially a clear cut goal opportunity with keeper Paul O Sullivan coming to his sides rescue just before the break. However a 15th minute fisted goal from Noel Dillon coming from a Conor Daly delivery left the half time score, Churchill 1-3 Asdee 0-1. On resumption it was all one way traffic as Churchill took complete control scoring at will and even though the home side had their moments there was never a doubt about the end result long before the sound of Seamus Mulvihills final whistle. A Pa McCarthy penalty in the 19th minute after Daniel Doyle was adjudged to have been fouled was the final nail in the coffin. Asdees only reply was a Paul O Carroll point in the 24th minute followed by another from Liam McElligott with the last kick of the game. Overall Churchill who ran their bench had plenty stars on the day but in fairness Gary Rolls, Daniel Doyle, Conor Daly, Noel Dillon, Garret Walsh, Mike Brennan and their top scorer with 5pts Benny Dillon deserve special mention. For Asdee Noel Long was easily their best performer while Liam McElligott, Cyril Dineen, Darren Russell, Mike Long, Eamon McElligott and John Doran tried hard. Teams and scorers. Asdee, James Kelly, Mike Long, Brian Coughlan, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Sean McElligott, Eamon McElligott, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, Noel Long, Liam McElligott, 1pt, Conor Coughlan, Micheal Walsh, Eoin O Mahony, Cyril Dineen, Darren Russell. Sub Dinny Dalton for Eoin O Mahony. Churchill, Paul O Sullivan, Peadar Stack, Garry Rolls, Maurice Wren, Daniel Doyle, Garret Walsh, John O Sullivan, Mike Brennan, 1pt, Chris Hurley, 1pt, David Rolls, Mark O Connor, 1pt, Pa McCarthy, 1gl, Noel Dillon, 1-1, Benny Dillon, 5pts, Conor Daly, 2pts. Subs, Darragh Herlihy for John O Sullivan, Shane Finn for Peadar Stack, John Carmody for David Rools, Stephen Conconnan for Maurice Wren, Patrick O Connor for Conor Daly. Referee, Seamus Mulvihill, St. Senans.

JUNIOR LEAGUE.
Asdee B 1-5 St. Senans C 3-11.

Even though only 3pts separated the sides at the interval at Walsh Park on Thursday evening last, 1-6 to 1-3 in the visitors favour in Round 1 of the North Kerry Junior League the home side who got the tonic of a 5th minute first half goal by Padraig Buckley were completely over-ran in the second half by a much more balanced Senans outfit who won as they pleased. Its of little consolation that Asdee had to field without at least half of their regular team but this canot be offered as an excuse for a very much below par display by the home side. Team and scorers; Dan Kearney, Jack Scanlon, Padraig Vallelly, Thomas Mulvihill, John Gorman, Kenneth Tydings, Niall Doran, David O Connor, Sean McElligott, 1pt, John Kennedy, 3pts, Dinny Dalton, Padraig Buckley, 1gl, Charles Dalton, 1pt. Sub Sean Stack for Padraig Vallelly.

COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-11 Clounmacon 0-7.

These two great rivals went into action in Round 1 of the Credit Union County League Division 5 at Brosnan Park Moyvane on Sunday morning last which was also a double-up game for the Rosemary Scully Memorial Cup.(Asdee Football Tournament Final) but it took a late scoring spree by Asdee to secure those vital County League points. The opening half was a rather niggly affair with pulling and dragging being the order of the day which spoiled the contest; however as the encounter progressed and things settled down, the game was entertaining enough and exchanges were pretty even with very little separating the sides into the third quarter. However a late scoring spree by Asdee with Liam McElligott and Darren Russell very much to the fore saw Asdee grab those vital County League points. The game got underway with Chris Lyons on target and after 5 minutes led 2pts. However by the 13th minute the sides were all square with Darren Russell and Liam McElligott lofting over. Points were exchanged by Chris Lyons and Darren Russell and after 15 minutes the sides could not be separated. At this stage and for much of the second quarter Clounmacon were on top at midfield with Liam O Sullivan and in particular Brendan Carey well in command. But in the 17th minute Asdees Eoin Kennedy picked up the kick out and with a pinpoint pass found John Doran who finished with some style to the roof of the net. Seamus Twomey who was in top form in attack for Clounmacon kicked two points along with P J Kissane and Darren Russell exchanges minors and at the break it was Asdee 1-4 Clounmacon 0-6. On the changeover it was tit for tat with scores at a premium as play swung from end to end and it took until the 7th minute before we got the second half scoring underway, a pointed free by Liam McElligott. This seemed to spur on Asdee and from here to the end it was mostly one way traffic despite Clounmacons brave resistance but by the time the final whistle sounded it finished in a deserved victory for Asdee. For Clounmacon the already mentioned midfield pair along with Brian Carty, Seamus Twomey, Kieran O Mahony and Chris Lyons played well. For Asdee, Brian Coughlan, Noel Long, Darren Russell, Liam McElligott, Eamon McElligott and Padraig Ruddle impressed. Teams and scorers, Asdee, James Kelly, Brian Coughlan, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Kieran McElligott, Eamon McElligott, Sean McElligott, Noel Long, John Doran, 1gl, Conor Coughlan, Eoin Kennedy, Micheal Walsh, 1pt, Darren Russell, 5pts, Padraig Ruddle, Liam McElligott, 5pts. Subs, Cyril Dineen for Eoin Kennedy, Mike Long for Sean McElligott, Eoin O Mahony for Conor Coughlan. Clounmacon, Jonathan Twomey, Pa Burns, Kieran O Mahony, Aiden Carey, Brendan Griffin, Brian Carty, Raymond O Donnell, Brendan Carey, Liam O Sullivan, Fintan McEnery, Timmy Mulvihill, P J Kissane, 1pt, Seamus Twomey, 3pts, Chris Lyons, 4pts, Joe Galvin. Subs, Chris Moore for Fintan McEnery, Mike Canavan for Joe Galvin. Referee Eddie Barrett, Knocknagoshel.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-10 Ballydonoghue 0-13

The visitors went into this game very much the underdogs as the home side needed all two League points to stay in contention for the latter stages of the competition but by the time the final whistle sounded they were very much relieved to share the points with Asdee who even though for long periods they struggled but with time almost up were a point ahead only for Ballydonoghue to come storming back and grab a late equaliser. The opening 15 minutes or so the home side were well in command and it took a good goal scored by midfielder Liam McElligott to keep the visitors in touch and at the break it was Ballydonoghue who were deservidely in front by 0-8 to 1-2. On the changeover Asdee upped their performance and matched the home side throughout and it was tit for tat all through the remainder of this half with play swinging fron end to end. However it must be said that even though it was a very clean game a couple of injuries to two key Asdee players didn’t help their cause with both Padraig Ruddle, first half and Eoin Kennedy having to depart the scene entering the third quarter. Still they battled on and just when it looked as if the League points would rest with the pre match underdogs the home side hit the equaliser with Padraig Bunyan with his trusty left foot levelling up the tie . Overall a good contest and a share of the spoils was probably a fair result. For Asdee Brian O Hanlon, Eamon McElligott, Noel Long who was man of the match, John Doran, Jermiah Tydings who was top scorer with 8pts, and Eoin Kennedy. For Ballydonoghue, Eamon Walsh, David O Connor, Billy Foley and Paul Kennelly all played well. Scorers Asdee; Jermiah Tydings, 8pts, Liam McElligott 1gl, Eoin Kennedy 3pts John Doran, 1pt, Kenneth Tydings, 1pt. Ballydonoghue, Paul Kennelly, 3pts, Padraig Bunyan, 3pts, Tommy Kennelly and Eamon Walsh, 2pts each, David O Connor, Dian Dowling and Junior O Connor, 1pt each. Asdee James Kelly, David Ruddle, Brian O Hanlon, Eamon McElligott, Kieran McElligott, Noel Long, Sean McElligott, John Doran, Liam McElligott, Jermiah Tydings, Eoin Kennedy, Conor Coughlan, Kenneth Tydings, Padraig Ruddle, Darren Russell. Subs Mike Long for Padraig Ruddle, Padraig Buckley for Eoin Kennedy.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 2-8 St. Senans 2-9

At the end of a keenly contested North Kerry league Division 2 encounter played at Walsh Park on Sunday last only a single point separated the sides and when the home side will look back on what might have been their first victory in the competition they have only themselves to blame. Two bizarre goals coming in the opening half and despite having plenty possession they were finding it hard to put scores on the board and clearly in this department St. Senans were the masters picking off their scores when they were presented. The opening 12mts or so Asdee completely dominated but as already stated they could register just 2pts in this period of time. Then completely against the run of play the visitors struck for the first of their two goals; a harmless looking delivery wasn’t properly cleared and in nipped Ronan Kerins to billow the net a minute later. This seemed to inspire Senans and by the 26th minute led 1-5 to 0-4. Two further goals in the remaining minutes; one from the penalty spot neatly tucked away by Darren Russell and on the sound of the half time whistle another defensive blunder by Asdee left Sean O Connell in for the easiest of tap ins leaving the interval score, St. Senans 2-5 Asdee 1-4. On resumption the same trend continued with the home side struggling in the scoring department but in fairness Senans had the better of exchanges in this half where the home side were always playing catch up football for the bigger part. Senans led 2-8 to 1-7 by the end of the third quarter despite some spirited play by the home side. Four points separated the sides as we approached the full time whistle and just before match Referee blew for full time John Doran made up for an earlier miss blasting the ball to the roof of the net. Overall the visitors just about deserved their win which keeps them well in contention for League honours. Benny Somers, Sean O Connell, top scorer with 1-4, James O Donnell, David O Donnell, Keeper John Somers who made a number of excellent saves and Ronan Kerins were in great form for the winners while for Asdee, Noel Long, David Ruddle, Eoin Kennedy, Padraig Ruddle, Eamon McElligott and Man of the Match Darren Russell excelled. Scorers; St. Senans, Sean O Connell, 1-4, Ronan Kerins, 1-1, Benny Somers 0-2, Brendan O Connell and Jason Brown, 1pt each. Asdee; John Doran, 1-1, Padraig Ruddle, 0-3, Darren Russell, 1gl, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts, Eoin Kennedy and Micheal Walsh, 1pt each. Team and scorers; Kenneth Tydings, David Ruddle, Brian O Hanlon, Mike Long, Sean McElligott, Kieran McElligott, Eamon McElligott, John Doran, 1-1, Noel Long, Micheal Walsh, 1pt, Conor Coughlan, Eoin Kennedy, 1pt, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts, Padraig Ruddle, 3pts, Darren Russell, 1gl. Sub Charles Dalton for Mike Long.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 0-6 Ballylongford 4-9

This local derby clash between these two parishioners played at Walsh Park on Sunday last in Round 4 of the North Kerry League Division 2 never lived up to expectations as the visitors except for a brief period in the opening half dominated throughout and when the final whistle sounded they were full value for their 15pt victory margin. In fairness those first 20mts or so was well contested with the home side giving as good as they got in terms of football and at that stage it was 2pts each and the good sized attendance im sure were looking forward to a cracking contest. However this was not to be as a misplaced pass led to this game turning completely around; Eddie Mangan took advantage of a mistake in the Asdee defence and the quick thinking forward placed Jason Deegan who hammered the ball to the back of the net; this set the tone of the game and at the break it was Bally who led 1-4 to 0-2. On the changeover Asdee were always struggling to come to terms with the football skills of their opponents and were always chasing the game. To add to the home teams woes Brian Coughlan and Jermiah Tydings received their marching orders. Further goals from Joe McCarthy and a brace from Deric Nolan finished this game as a contest and the result was never in doubt long before the sound of the final whistle. Certainly the Bally management team can be very satisfied with the performance of their side while Asdee who in fairness were understrength must now hope performances can improve for the upcoming County league. Scorers; Bally; Derik Nolan 2gls, Jason Deegan, 1-4, Joe McCarthy, 1gl, Brendan Bambury, 2pts, Liam McCarthy, Cathal O Carroll and Eddie Mangan, 1pt each. Asdee, Eoin Kennedy, 3pts, Noel Long, Conor Coughlan and Cyril Dineen 1pt each. Team Asdee; James Kelly, Mike Long, Brian Coughlan, David Ruddle, Kieran McElligott, Brian O Hanlon, Eamon McElligott, John Doran, Noel Long, 1pt, Jermiah Tydings, Conor Coughlan, 1pt, Micheal Walsh, Darren Russell, padraig Ruddle, Eoin Kennedy, 3pts. Subs, Cyril Dineen, 1pt for Micheal Walsh, Sean McElligoptt for David Ruddle, Kenneth Tydings, Padraig Buckley.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-6 Knocknagoshel 1-6

In an evenly contested encounter played at Walsh Park, Knocknagoshel on Sunday last both Asdee and Knock played out an exciting draw to gain their first North Kerry League Division 2 points of the competition. In fairness to both teams either side could very well have snatched that elusive victory but squandermania played a big part in the destination of the league points; however when the final whistle sounded both sides seemed happy with the shared points. The opening half saw saw little between two evenly matched sides and after just 12mts Asdee got the tonic of an early goal scored by Micheal Walsh, However this was short lived because Knock struck back during the second quarter and got in for a similar score and at the break it was the home side who led by 1-2 to 1-1. On resumption it was tit for tat and with 6mts remaining Asdee went a point ahead and looked set for victory but a defensive error let the opposition in and Denis Walsh made no mistake to level up the tie Overall a cracking contest and even though either side may not be in the shake up for business end of the competition it was a spirited display from both teams who were understrength on the day. Asdee were best served on the day by Brian O Hanlon, Eamon McElligott, Noel Long, Micheal Walsh and Eoin Kennedy while for Knock Denis Walsh, Lee Roche, Micheal Walsh and James Walsh impressed on the day. Team and scorers. James Kelly, Mike Long, Brian O Hanlon, Kenneth Tydings, David Ruddle, Brian Coughlan, Eamon McElligott, John Doran, Noel Long, Michael Walsh, 1-1, Conor Coughlan, Darren Russell, 1pt, Padraig Ruddle, Mick Fitzsimons, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy, 1pt. Subs, Charles Dalton for Kenneth Tydings, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts for Mick Fitzsimons.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 0-5 Duagh 1-7

An understrength Asdee side made the trip to Duagh on Saturday last to take on the locals in Division 2, Round 2 of the North Kerry League and after giving a good account of themselves just lost by a 5pt margin to a fancied Duagh side despite having a complete off-day in the scoring department. Certainly Asdee could very well have stolen this one but on saying that its all about taking your scoring opportunities when presented and here is where the home side saved the day. Another factor in their victory was a marvellous display given by Martin Scanlon who got in for a well taken goal after only 10mts and in fact from this point onwards the visitors were fighting an up-hill-battle. Duagh led at the interval by 1-3 to 3pts. On resumption the home side continued to lead the way as Asdee battled on but when the final whistle it was Duagh side who won the day. Anthony Maher back after a long term injury, Declan Griffin, John O Brien and Timmy Quirke played exceptionally well for the home side while for Asdee, Darren Russell, Sean McElligott, Eamon McElligott, Micheal Walsh and Liam McElligott did exceptionally well. Team and scorers; John Kennedy, Dinny Dalton, Brian O Hanlon, Mike Long, Sean McElligott, Brian Coughlan, Eamon McElligott, John Doran, 1pt, Liam McElligott, 1pt, Darren Russell, 1pt, Noel Long, Micheal Walsh, Kenneth Tydings, Mick Fitzsimons, Eoin Kennedy, 2pts.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE Division 2.
Asdee 1-7 Ballyduff 1-14

Played at Walsh Park on Saturday evening last pre match favourites Ballyduff got off to a winning start to their North Kerry League Division 2 clash with an Asdee side who in fairness started well considering that they were very much understrength on the day. The opening half saw Ballyduff set the pace of the game and even though the home side had their moments it was the visitors who deservidely led at the break by 0-9 to 0-4. Within 5mts on resumption Ballyduff had extended their lead further when Joe Bunyan scored a well worked goal and even at this early stage of the game it looked as if Ballyduff would pull away. However Asdees midfielder Noel Long kept his sides hopes very much alive when he cracked a bullet of a shot to the net 5mts later. From here to the end Ballyduff kept their noses in front with Joe Bunyan, Barry O Grady and Tomas O Rourke very much to the fore and when John Ross Ballyduff who had to deputize for the non appearance of the appointed Match Referee blew for full time there was never a doubt but that Ballyduff were very deserving winners. For Asdee Paul O Carroll, Brian Coughlan, Eoin O Carroll, Mike Long, Darren Russell and Padraig Ruddle impressed. Team and scorers; Kenneth Tydings, Mike Long, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Eoin O Carroll, Kieran, McElligott, Brian Coughlan, Noel Long, 1gl, Liam McElligott, 2pts, Paul O Carroll, 3pts, Padraig Ruddle, Darren Russell, Charles Dalton, John Doran, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts. Subs, James Kelly for Kenneth Tydings, Eamon McElligott for David Ruddle, Michael Walsh for Charles Dalton, Dinny Dalton for Darren Russell, Padraig Buckley not used.

NORTH KERRY FINAL 13-A-SIDE.
Asdee B 0-8 Clounmacon B 2-10

This eagerly and long awaited North Kerry Novice Championship Final played at Stack Park Ballybunion on Saturday last proved to be a good enough contest and despite having struggled to come to terms in the scoring department kicking 8 first half wides Clounmacon really turned on the style during a one sided second half to overcome a spirited Asdee side who were depending totally on veteran forward, John Kennedy for scores and the former All Ireland medal holder hit all but one of his sides tally. On the other hand all 5 Clounmacon forwards were on target. The game got underway with Asdee quickly into the attack and after 10 minutes play were 3pts ahead but Clounmacon as already stated left their shooting boots at home. Eventually after 16mts Clounmacon got their name on the scoreboard with Anthony Stack on target. This seemed to settle Clounmacon as John Walsh and Damian Murphy put the sides on level terms at 3pts each after 20mts. It took a timely interception by Asdees Dan Dalton to save what looked like a certain goal in the 25th minute before Clounmacon hit Asdee with a sucker punch in the 28th minute when after a terrible defensive slip up John Walsh cut through the middle to give Dan Kearney in the Asdee goals little chance with a rocket to the roof of the net and at the break it was Clounmacon 1-3 Asdee 0-3. Within 4mts on resumption Clounmacon had took a firm grip on the game with John Walsh, Damian Murphy and John O Carroll kicking over points. After failing to score for over 20mts substitute Eoin O Mahony gave Asdee a lifeline with a neat point after 7mts but in fairness this was as good as it got for the Shannonsiders as Clounmacon were in no mood to let this one slip and just one minute later Mike Collins put this game out of sight with a cracking goal. Tony Walsh and John Kennedy exchanged points as Asdee tried in vain to get back in the game but a teak tough Clounmacon defence held firm. The final 5mts was just going through the motions for the victors as the victory celebrations had already begun and when the final whistle sounded there was never a doubt but that the best team had won and had added the North Kerry Novice Championship to the already won North Kerry League Division 5. For Clounmacon who had some fine individual displays; Timmy Kelly and Des Daly in defence, Tony Walsh and Liam O Sullivan won the midfield battle while up front Damian Murphy and John Walsh were always to the fore. Asdee were best served on the day by Mike Long, John Kennedy, Kenneth Tydings, Dan Dalton, Jack Scanlon and Donal O Carroll. After the game North Kerry Board Assistant Secretary, Maurice Mannix was present to present the winning captain, Tony Walsh with the Novice Championship Cup.Teams and scorers; Clounmacon, John O Halloran, Tommy Twomey, Mike Sheehy, Ger Guerin, Timmy Kelly, 1pt,  Des Daly, Tony Walsh, 2pts, Liam O Sullivan, Danian Murphy, 3pts, Anthony Stack, 1pt, John O Carroll, 1pt, Mike Collins, 1gl, John Walsh, 1-2. COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-13 St. Senans 0-6

Asdee senior footballers finished off their Credit Union County League Division 5 campaign with a comprehensive win over St. Senans played at Walsh Park, Asdee on Saturday last. This was a meaningless game to say the least and was played in that spirit between two very much understrength sides who gave an opportunity to some of the respective clubs fringe players to perform  for the occasion. The home side led 1-8 to 0-4 at the break with the goal coming from full forward Mick Fitzminons. On the changeover Asdee continued to dominate and when the final whistle blew it was the home side who collected the County League points.Team and scorers; James Kelly, Dinny Dalton, Charles Dalton, David Ruddle, Ned McElligott, Mike Long, Eoin O Carroll, Jack Scanlon, Liam McElligott, 3pts, Jerry Tydings, 5pts, Conor Coughlan, Eoin Kennedy, 2pts, Kenneth Tydings, Mick Fitzminons, 1-1, Dara Russell, 2pts. Sub, Brian Coughlan for Conor Coughlan.

Bernard O Callaghan
Memorial Football Championship
Tarbert 1-15 Asdee 0-11

Asdee senior footballers may be out of the 2009 Bernard O Callaghan Memorial Football Championship but not before they gave pre match favourites Tarbert plenty anxious moments at O Sullivan Park, Finuge on Saturday last before the Shannonsiders eventually pulled through; and even though the margin of victory might suggest that Tarbert had a handy win, this certainly did not do justice to an Asdee side who gave as good as they got for long periods but in the end it was that extra bit of craft ,scoring power and when in a tight situation like they were, never panacked which swung the result in their favour. The game exploded into action with both teams really getting stuck in. By the 20th minute as play swung from end to end the sides were deadlocked at 4pts each. Eoin Kennedy, (3) and Paul O Carroll on target. However Asdee suffered a severe set-back in the 14th minute of the game when midfielder John Doran got his marching orders for a rather clumsy tackle on a Tarbert player who had to retire injured as a result. Asdee kept pressing taking the game to their opponents and after playing with a slight breeze further points by Eoin Kennedy, Noel Long and an inispirational score from long range by Conor Coughlan left the half time score reading, Asdee 0-7 Tarbert 0-5. On the resumption Tarbert now came more into the game and without doubt the extra man was later to prove a huge stunbling block in Asdees quest for glory. The Shannonsiders were now piling on the pressure and had Asdees defence back peddling for much of this half and only for some poor finishing they could have been much further ahead than the scoreline of  0-11 to 0-7 read after 16 minutes scoring 6pts without reply. Finally Asdee got off the mark when Eoin Kennedy floated in a free kick that was punched over by Noel Long in the 18th minute. Still it was the men in red and black that were always looking dangerous picking off their scores at will and even though Asdee were battling away it was now evident with the eventual winners ahead by 5pts with under 3mts left for play this was going to be a bridge too far for the Villagers. The final nail in the coffen came on the stroke of full time when Paddy O Connell billowed the net for the only goal of the game and even though Eoin Kennedy did get a point back it was never going to be enough and Tarbert finished deserving victors in the end but most certainly not by a margin of 7pts. For Asdee who were given very little chance going into this contest; this was a performance to savour and they can now look forward to the future with every confidence. Now is the time to drive on and this team has the potential and football to make the headlines in the not too distant future. It would be unfair to single out any player for special mention as each and every member of the panel worked hard in training and as already stated it was that little bit of craft at the end that swung the day. Well done to players and Management involved. Match Referee Eddie Barrett has had better days with the whistle giving at times some baffling decisions on both sides.  Team and scorers. James Kelly, Paul O Carroll, 2pts, Charlie Dalton, David Ruddle, Thomas Mulvihill, Kieran McElligott, Brian Coughlan, John Doran, Noel Long, 2pts, Liam McElligott, Conor Coughlan, 1pt, Micheal Walsh, Matthew O Hanlon, Padraig Ruddle, capt, Eoin Kennedy, 6pts. COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 0-14 Ballylongford 1-7

This local derby game between the great rivals and fellow parishioners played at O Rahilly Park, Ballylongford on Saturday evening last never rose to any great heights and in a free ridden game  the football was poor to say the least and it was only the rivalry that exists between the sides that kept that bit of interest in the contest; in fact out of the combined total of 1-21 there did 0-15 come from frees. In fairness the points at stake were of very little importance as both sides have been languishing at the wrong end of the table during the League campaign but this canot be offered as an excuse for such a poor contest. The opening half saw Bally open the scoring when Joe McCarthy split the uprights after 2mts and even though Asdee had their share of the play it took until the 10th minute before they opened their account when Eoin Kennedy from a free kicked the first of his 8pts, seven of which came from placed balls over the hour. At this stage scores were hard to come-by and it took until the 20 minute before the dynamic Kennedy again from a free put Asdee ahead. Now the visitors were taking the game to their opponents and in a late surge; Eoin Kennedy, Liam McElligott, Paul O Carroll and Matthew O Hanlon popped over points leaving the half-time score; Asdee 0-6 Bally 0-1. Within 2 minutes on resumption wing back Thomas Mulvihill  who had a tremendous game came forward and punched a neat point from a tight angle. Two more points followed from Paul O Carroll and Eoin Kennedy, both frees before Asdee were left off the hook when a Bally forward got inside the defence  in the 6th minute and with a glorious opportunity of a goal, but the ball sailed harmslessly  across the face of the goal and wide. Joe McCarthy who was easily his sides best attacker and Eddie Mangan sent over points but it was still the visitors who led 10pts to 4. However in the 13th minute the Asdee net was shaking when substitute Niall Heaphy saw his powerful drive come back off the crossbar and the inrushing Maurice O Halloran finished to the net.  The visitors quickly replied and Eoin Kennedy followed with 3 points one from play and a 45 meter free by Liam McElligott saw them well in command after 24 minutes. The remainder of the game became a little bit scrappy and Asdees Noel Long got his marching orders after receiving his second yellow with under 4 minutes remaining as did a Bally player nearer to full time. Bally now with nothing to loose threw caution to the wind and 3 points from the boot of Eddie Mangan cut the deficit to just 4 points but it was not enough as time ran out. Overall though Asdee were that little bit sharper and fully deserved their win. Certainly there were some sterling performances and none more-so than from Brian Coughlan who put the shackles on Ballys dangerman Eddie Mangan even though he finished up as his sides top scorer with 4pts, one from play. Tom Mulvihill was another top class defender. At midfield Noel Long and John Doran held the upper hand and in attack Liam McElligott, Eoin Kennedy and Matthew O Hanlon were always to the fore. Bally got their scores from; Eddie Mangan, 4pts,(3f), Joe McCarthy, 3pts, (2f), Maurice O Halloran, 1gl. Team and scorers; James Kelly, Kenneth Tydings, Charles Dalton, Paul O Carroll, 2pts,(f), Tom Mulvihill, 1pt, Kieran McElligott, Brian Coughlan, John Doran, Noel Long, Micheal Walsh, Conor Coughlan, Liam McElligott, 2pts, (1f), Matthew O Hanlon, 1pt, Padraig Ruddle, Eoin Kennedy, 8pts, (7f). Subs, David Ruddle for Kenneth Tydings, Jack Scanlon for Micheal Walsh.

CREDIT UNION COUNTY LEAGUE DIV. 5.
Asdee 0-4 Listry. 1-18

Displaying silky skills, excellent team work and accumulating an impressive final tally, Listry kept their  promotion aspirations very much alive at Dowling Park, Coolard last evening where they swepped aside an understrength Asdee side with remarkable ease. Listry were in control from the start and once Tadhg Ahern struck for a well worked goal midway through the opening half and such was the Killarney sides dominance even at this early stage the game was as good as over and at the interval it was Listry 1-7 to Asdees 0-2. On resumption with John Foley and Stephen Brosnan dictating matters at midfield the visitors continued where they left off kicking some magnificent long range points into the bargain and with nine different players getting on the scoresheet it was all too easy in the end. Besides those already mentioned Derry Ahern, Danny Wren, Jimmy O Leary and Paul O Donoghue were in great form for the winners while for what was a most disappointing result for Asdee only Noel Long, Charles Dalton and Kieran McElligott impressed. Team, James Kelly, Dinny Dalton, Kenneth Tydings, David Ruddle, Thomas Mulvihill, Kieran McElligott, 1pt, Paul O Carroll, Noel Long, 1pt, Padraig Ruddle, 1pt, John Doran, 1pt, Conor Coughlan, Jack Scanlon, Charles Dalton, David Griffin, Matthew O Hanlon. Subs, Eoin Kennedy for David Griffin, Mick Fitzsimons for David Ruddle, inj, Padraig Buckley.

COUNTY LEAGUE. Churchill 2-12 Asdee 1-6

This Credit Union County League Division 5 game played at Churchill on Thursday evening last between two very much understrength teams was always competitive. The home team needed the points as they seek promotion while Asdee were hoping to move up the league table into a mid table position. For the opening 10 minutes or so the home team were on the defensive as the visitors who were playing well went into a 4 point lead. However once Churchill got to grips with the game they started to play some very attractive football and a well taken goal just before the interval saw them go in at the break 1-3 to 0-4 ahead. The second half was a fairly even enough affair with Asdee still in the game thanks to a smashing goal from the elusive Matthew O Hanlon coming up to the remaining 10 minutes but the home side struck for a goal in the 25th minute to put clear daylight between the sides in the end. Team; James Kelly, Dinny Dalton, Kenneth Tydings, David Ruddle, Paul O Carroll, 2pts, Brian Coughlan, 1pt, Kieran McElligott, Jack Scanlon, John Doran, Micheal Walsh, David Griffin, Matthew O Hanlon, 1gl, Eoin Kennedy, 3pts, Cathal Dalton, Conor Coughlan.

COUNTY NOVICE SHIELD.
Asdee 2-5  Knocknagoshel 1-18

fter giving a truly remarkable first half performance with a depleated team, Asdee who were level at the interval fell by the wayside during the second half as they crumbled to a more organised Knocknagoshel side who won in a canter at the final whistle by a 10 point winning margin at Walsh Park,Knocknagoshel on Saturday evening last in round 6 of the Credit Union County League, Division 5. Inside a minute of the commencement of the game the home side got the tonic of an early penalty with their chief marksman, Edmund Walsh cracking home the spot kick after 2 minutes. However 3 minutes later they were rocked back on their heels when Asdees best player M. P. O Hanlon collected a long delivery from Brian Coughlan and planted the ball in the net and for the remainder of the half we saw some good passages of play as the game ebbed and flowed. By the 15th minute Knock had gone 2 points ahead despite a Paul O Carroll free. Then it was M.P. O Hanlon who was now causing havoc with his marker and as he weaved his way goalwards with still plenty to do he spotted the Knock keeper off his line and with the neatest of chips eased the ball just under the crossbar after 16 minutes to put his side ahead for the first time. Points from Denis Walsh and Edmund Walsh saw Knock back in front. Coming towards the end of the half points were exchanged with John Doran and Eoin Kennedy on target for Asdee and at the interval it was Knock 1-6 to Asdee 2-3. Having to face the breeze was always going to be a difficult task for the visitors and in fairness as the game wore on Asdee completely ran out of steam as Knock just completely took over and it took until the 23rd minute before Eoin Kennedy got them off the mark from a free kick; by this stage Knock had the County League points well wrapped up. Another point from Kennedy in the last minute was never going to be enough as the home side finished worthy winners at the end. Team, James Kelly, Eoin O Carroll, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Thomas Mulvihill, Charles Dalton, Kieran McElligott, Padraig Ruddle, John Doran, 1pt, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy, 3pts, Michael Walsh, Brian Coughlan, John Kennedy, M. P. O Hanlon, 2gls. Sub, Mick Fitzsimons for James Kelly, inj.

COUNTY NOVICE SHIELD.
Asdee 1-6 Valentia 0-10

Asdee senior footballers lost by the minimum of margins to a much more fancied Valentia side in a very well contested County Novice Shield Semi Final played in perfect conditions at Keel on Sunday last. Certainly Asdee will be very disappointed with that final result as they enjoyed as much possession if not a little more over the hour than their opponents; but in fairness they have only themselves to blame, not because of the many wides they kicked but for some atrocious sloppy play giving away so much hard won possession so easy. However in fairness all 18 players used gave their all and cannot be blamed for effort and with a little more luck on their side in the closing stages could so easily have at least forced the game into extra time. The game got underway with Valentia piling on the pressure in those early stages but could only register a single point for their efforts; at the other end Asdee kicked 2 wides but tied up the game in the 5th minute when Eoin Kennedy latched on to a poor clearance to float the ball over the bar. Points were exchanged as Eoin Kennedy this time from a free sent over after Paul O Carroll was pulled down in the 11th minute to level matters again. Then a minute later Noel Long went on one of his trademark runs and after avoiding a few would-be tacklers he planted the ball in the net but 3minutes later Asdee were left off the hook when Brian O Hanlon saved on the line from what looked like a certain goal. The remainder of the half was hard fought with defences on top and both sides kicking wides. John Doran punched a point for Asdee but Valentia finished with a late flurry and at half time it was Asdee 1-3 Valentia 0-4. On the changeover the South Kerry side had wind advantage and were first off the mark inside the first minute. By the 9th minute Asdee were still holding on to that single point lead when Eoin Kennedy and Paul O Carroll on target but by the 14th minute the sides were on level terms for the 3rd time. It was end to end play from here to the finish as both teams went for the finishing line. Noel Long was most unlucky not to get in for his second goal in the game in the 20th minute which would have given his side a huge advantage but as he shot for goal the Valentia rearguard held firm. Valentia went 2points ahead and it looked as if they would pull away, however a super effort that flew over from long range from Brian Coughlan kept his side well in contention. Then in the 29th minute the usual realible Eoin Kennedy had a chance to force the game into extra time but saw his effort from a free go well wide of the target. Valentia held possession for the closing minutes and held on for victory. It would be unfair to single out any player as everybody contributed and at the final whistle were just deprived of a County Final appearance.

Team and scorers James Kelly, Eoin O Carroll, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Liam McElligott, Brian Coughlan, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, 1pt, Noel Long, 1gl, Donal O Carroll, Eoin Kennedy, 3pts, Micheal Walsh, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Padraig Ruddle, Charles Dalton. Subs, Thomas Mulvihill for Micheal Walsh, Kenneth Tydings for Donal O Carroll, jack Scanlon for Liam McElligott, inj.

COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-9  Cromane 0-12

In a thrilling County league Division 5 game played at Walsh Park on Saturday evening last the home side fought out a tremendously exciting draw that was played in championship fervour throughout which kept the good sized attendance on their toes right up to the sound of the final whistle and for the second week in a row Eoin Kennedy in the 60th minute saved the day for Asdee with a 30 meter free. Asdee must be commended on a splended fightback as for much of the opening half they were playing catch up football but certainly the display given by Noel Long who was playing out of his skin kept his side in touch.Cromane will be disappointed that they didn't close out this one out; they started well and were 4pts to 1 up after 15 minutes with County player Sean O Sullivan causing endless problems early on. Eoin Kennedy got Asdee off the mark in the 10th minute. At this stage it was the visitors who were well on top and only for poor shooting they could have been much further ahead. However Asdee kept in touch when Brian Coughlan kicked an inispirational point to cut the deficit after Sean O Sullivan had a goal disallowed for a square infringement in the 20th minute and then the home side got the score they so badly needed 2 minutes later; Liam McElligott centered a high delivery and somehow Padraig Ruddle got that vital touch and the ball ended up in the net. Now even though Cromane finished the half with 2 further points one could sense that Asdee were now very much back in this game. Half Time Cromane 0-6 Asdee 1-2. The second half contained some outstanding football and inside the first minute and a half the home side had gone back in the lead through a Paul O Carroll free and a neat touch from Michael Walsh. Points were exchanged  with Paul O Carroll, Micheal Fitzsimmons and Michael Walsh cancelling out Cromanes scores and still the teams couldn't be seperated in the 21st minute. Sean O Sullivan edged Cromane in front after 23 minutes after Asdee kicked some terrible wides. Then in the 28th minute Eoin Kennedy got inside his marker but his powerful shot came off a defender and waiting to take advantage from the rebound was Paul O Carroll and with that trusty left leg he split the uprights and for the 5th time in the game the sides were level. Some loose marking on Asdees behalf left in Sean O Sullivan for a punched point as we approached the final minute of the contest. Not to be outdone the home side came down field, forced a 30 meter free which Eoin Kennedy duly converted. The game was marred at the final whistle by an unfortunate serious leg injury to substitute John Long which was completely accidental. Overall a terrific display given by Asdee who were given little chance going into the game but they proved their critics wrong with a superb performance from everyone involved.

Team and scorers, James Kelly, Brian Coughlan, 1pt, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Thomas Mulvihill, Noel Long, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, Micheal Walsh, 2pts, Liam McElligott, Micheal Fitzsimmons, 1pt, Donal O Carroll, Paul O Carroll, 3pts, Padraig Ruddle, 1gl, Eoin Kennedy, 2pts. Subs John Long for David Ruddle, Eoin O Carroll for Thomas Mulvihill, Charles Dalton for Liam McElligott.

COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 2-10 Clounmacon 2-10.

There was no winner in this bottom of the table clash played at Brosnan Park, Moyvane on Saturday evening last where it took a 30 meter free in the 60th minute of a highly entertaining game from Eoin Kennedy to give his side a share of the spoils. Clounmacon looked in control of their own destiny late on as they clung to a 4 point advantage but Asdee pressurised them and with Eoin Kennedy in inspirational form kicking 4 points in a row between the 15th and 19th minute  to level matters and when Clounmacon went ahead again as the game came near its conclusion it was Kennedy who came to his sides rescue with that last gasp equaliser. Clounmacon got off to the better start and inside the opening 11 minutes had gon 3pts to 1 in front and only for a timely interception by Charles Dalton the margin could have been wider. Asdee hit the front for the first time in the game when Eoin Kennedy showed a clean pair of heels to his marker and scored a fine goal. However not to be outdone Brian Carty got one back for Clounmacon after 15mts. Asdee were now playing well and Noel Long was deprived a a goal when the Clounmacon made a super save in the 25th minute. Eoin Kennedy and Padraig Ruddle added points but at the break it was Clounmacon who led, 1-6 to 1-4. Seamus Toomey who was Clounmacons top scorer stretched his side lead inside the first minute on resumption but Asdee were back on track 3 minutes later when Noel Long billowed the net from close range. It was nip and tuck at this stage with play swinging from end to end; however a mix up in the Asdee rearguard gave Ger Guerin the simple task of toe poking the ball to the net and the home side were ahead by 3 points. But Asdee inspired by some wonderful play from Noel Long and Eoin Kennedy had the sides on level terms for the 5th time in the game by the 19th minute despite having a player sent off on a second yellow. Then in a welter of excitement Clounmacon went ahead in the 23rd minute and after Asdee kicked 3 bad wides in a row it was Eoin Kennedy that came to his sides rescue when he pointed a close in free. Overall a most entertaining contest and a draw was probably a fair result in the end. Eoin Kennedy was easily Asdees best performer while Noel Long, Brian O Hanlon, Padraig Ruddle, Thomas Mulvihill and Brian Coughlan all impressed. Team and scorers; James Kelly, Kenneth Tydings, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Thomas Mulvihill, Brian Coughlan, Kieran McElligott, Noel Long, 1-1, Jack Scanlon, Niall Doran, Donal O Carroll, Micheal Walsh, Charles Dalton, Padraig Ruddle, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy, 1-8.

McCarthys Insurance Brokers Junior League,
Div. 5 Semi Final Clounmacon B 1-13 Asdee B 1-4

It was a routine journey to success for Clounmacon in last Tuesdays North Kerry Junior League, Division 5 Semi Final played at Stack Park Ballybunion where they established superiority early on and a blistering opening scoring drive propelling them into a commanding lead. By the interval they were 8pts ahead thanks to a first minute goal from Tony Walsh and their passage to the final never looked in jeopardy in the second half despite Asdee getting in for an 8th minute goal from Conor Mulvihill to cut the deficit to 4pts. The winners defence played as a solid unit ably led by Pa Burns at full back, they were in control at midfield while in a livewire attack in which all but one got on the scoresheet there was great energy and workrate to their play as well epitomised by the hard working Tony Walsh and veteran John Walsh. On the other hand even though Asdee won a fair amount of possession; erratic shooting cost them dearly and they also contributed to their own downfall with some atrocious passing. Dan Kearney did all that was asked of him in goals, Kenneth Tydings and Thomas Mulvihill were solid in defence, Michael Walsh toiled hard at midfield and up front Micheal Fitzsimons was easily the pick of the bunch. Team and scorers; Dan Kearney, Kenneth Tydings, Sean Stack, Conor Mulvihill, 1gl, Thomas Mulvihill, John Long, Tomas Walsh, Michael Walsh, Kieran McElligott, Donal O Carroll, John Kennedy, 3pts, Niall Doran, Micheal Fitzsimons, 1pt, Charles Dalton, Jack Scanlon.

COUNTY NOVICE SHIELD,Quarter Final.
Asdee 1-9 Clounmacon 2-2

Asdee had to survive a late Clounmacon comeback and some anxious moments before securing victory in this well contested and most entertaining County Novice Shield Quarter Final played in rather difficult underfoot conditions at Walsh Park last evening. The home side seemed set to win when playing well and coming up to the end of the 3rd quarter leading by 1-5 to 1-2. But credit Clounmacon they came storming back and with a little more accuracy and a little bit of luck on their side could very well have taken this game into extra time. However overall Asdee did just enough, were slightly the better team on the evening and deserved their win. With defences on top scores were at a premium and after 8mts it was 2pts to 1pt in favour of the home side, Eoin Kennedy, (2) and Seamus Twoomey (free) on target. However both sides shot bad wides and especially Asdee who squandered 3 great goaling opportunities. Then completely against the run of play, good work by Clounmacons star midfielder Ian McCarthy who picked out the unmarked Anthony Stack in the 19th minute who billowed the net from close range to put his side ahead. Asdee re-grouped and after Micheal Walsh cut the deficit the impressive Donal O Carroll sent John Doran through who sent an unstoppable shot to the roof of the net leaving the half time score, Asdee 1-3 Clounmacon 1-1. On resumption the home side now with wind advantage were first off the mark after 4mts when Donal O Carroll sent over a long range point. Seamus Twoomey from a free and Thomas Mulvihill exchanged points before substitute John Walsh in the 13th mt took advantage of a mix-up in the Asdee defence to calmly slide the ball to the corner of the net to tie up the game. At this stage it was anybodys game, both sides were off target as play swung from end to end. Eoin Kennedy who was always a threat set up Noel Long who lofted over a rightfooted effort to put his side in front once again in the 17th mt. Eoin Kennedy and Paul O Carroll added further points to see their side lead by 3 coming up to the last 6mts of the game. Still Clounmacon were coming forward but this time the home defence who were under severe pressure stood firm and denied the visitors the opportunity of scores. At the other end as we approached the final whistle John Doran sent a neat pass and the former Kerry minor Eoin Kennedy kicked over the insurance point to seal a hard earned victory.Team, James Kelly, Kenneth Tydings, Charles Dalton, David Ruddle, Tom Mulvihill, 1pt, Noel Long, 1pt, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, 1gl, Jack Scanlon, Donal O Carroll, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy, 4pts, Michael Walsh, 1pt, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Padraig Ruddle, Conor Coughlan. Subs, Nial Doran for Conor Coughlan, inj, John Long for Jack Scanlon.

COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 0-9 Templenoe 1-8

It took an opportunist goal from Templenoes corner back Kieran O Neill with 3mts remaining to separate these two evenly matched sides played at Coolard on Saturday evening last. Certainly it was an obsorbing contest that saw the sides level on no fewer than 8 occasions. The visitors to North Kerry were first off the mark when corner forward Timothy Clifford lofted over from close range in the 2nd minute but was quickly followed 3mts later by Asdees Liam McElligott to level up the tie for the first time. This was to set the trend for the remainder of the game as play swung from end to end throughout. Again Clifford and wing back Kieran McCarthy exchanged points with Paul O Carroll and Liam McElligott and after 20mts the teams were still deadlocked. Both sides had a little difficulty with their shooting before Eoin Kennedy and Teddy Doyle swopped minors and when the half time whistle sounded it was Asdee, 4pts and Templenoe, 4pts. Asdee hit the front inside the opening minute on resumption when Paul O Carroll split the uprights; but just like in the first half they could never pull away from a very determined Templenoe side. Shane Cremin had the sides on level terms once again after 5mts and by the 15th minute it was still all aquare when points were exchanged by Eoin Kennedy and Micheal Walsh and 2 superb efforts by full forward Paudie Palmer. It was still anybodys game as we approached the remaining 10mts. Eoin Kennedy put Asdee in front in the 21st minute before Templenoes keeper Patrick O Mahony had to be alert to save two dangerous situations. An unnessary free gave Paudie Palmer the opportunity to level up the game once again. Still all to play for, however both teams were off target with their shooting before Templenoe struck for what was to prove to be the crucial score of the game in the 27th minute when corner back Kieran O Neill got on the end of a sweeping movement that began in defence and with a clinical finish gave James Kelly in the Asdee goals little chance of stopping. Eoin Kennedy got the final score of the game but it was too little too late and the visitors continued their march up the table while Asdee are still in search of their opening County league points.Team James Kelly, Kenneth Tydings, Brian O Hanlon, Thomas Mulvihill, Donal O Carroll, Brian Coughlan, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, Micheal Walsh, 1pt, Liam McElligott, 2pts, Eoin Kennedy, 4pts, Conor Coughlan, Paul O Carroll, 2pts, Noel Long, Charles Dalton.Subs John Long for Conor Coughlan, Jack Scanlon for Micheal Walsh, Niall Doran for Donal O Carroll.

NORTH KERRY JUNIOR LEAGUE
Asdee B 3-8 Clounmacon B 1-2

NORTH KERRY JUNIOR LEAGUE. Asdee B 3-8 Clounmacon B 1-2. Two cracking goals from the boot of Charles Dalton, one in either half and the third from John Kennedy laid the foundations of a surprisingly easy victory over Clounmacon B in a rather one sided contest played at Clounmacon on Monday last. The visitors with the aid of a stiffish wind in the first half led at the break by 1-4 to 0-2 and even though Clounmacon came more into the game in the second half with the Asdee keeper Dan Kearney coming to his sides rescue on two occasions; however they were never able to get near enough to trouble a spirited Asdee side who were worthy victors at the final whistle.By virtue of this win Asdee have now qualified for the semi final of the competition with a date and venue yet to be confirmed.Team, Dan Kearney, Sean Stack, Kenneth Tydings, Thomas Mulvihill, Jack Scanlon, Dan Dalton, Kieran McElligott, Micheal Walsh, 3pts, Nial Doran, 1pt, John Kennedy, 1-2, Donal O Carroll, 1pt, Cathal Dalton, Charles Dalton, 2-1.Sub John Long for Kenneth Tydings.

COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 2-5  Listry 1-9

Playing at home Listry went into this game as raging hot favourites but at the end of a pulsating contest they had to pull out all the stops before overcoming a tremendous Asdee performance and had to rely on a 29th minute point to secure victory and a place in round 2 of the County Novice Championship.Certainly this was a wonderful team display by the visitors who fought for every ball as if their lives depended on it and credit to all 17 players used who couldn't be faulted for their efforts and only for a few silly mistakes could so easily have been celebrating a long over due County championship victory. The first half saw Asdee take the game to their more fancied opponents and after 4mts had taken a 2 point lead this domination continued into the 20th minute and despite Listry kicking some terrible wides they were still those 2 points ahead with. However Asdees defence that had been working overtime up to now slackened off which led to Listry finishing the half with a florish of 1-3 and at the interval it was Listry 1-5 to Asdee 0-4. Asdee regrouped again for the second half and with scores hard to come-by as both defences were now in control. However in the 13th minute Asdee got the tonic of a well worked goal when Paul O Carroll got in behind his marker to send an unstopable shot into the roof of the net. Then 5 minutes later Eoin Kennedy was upended going through and from the resultant penalty the former Kerry minor star found the net. Now Asdee had their tails up, playing well and a point up as we faced the final 10 minutes of the game. It was end to end play from here in with both teams looking for the score that would take them a step further in the competition. By the 26th minute the teams were still deadlocked and it looked as if the game would go into extra time. However the all important score came from a free in the 29th minute when Listrys centre forward Anthony Sweeney split the uprights. Asdee did come downfield in search of the equaliser but the home defence stood firm. Overall Asdee who had to line out without a number of their regulars can feel well pleased with their performance. Team James Kelly, Brian Coughlan, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Donal O Carroll, Noel Long, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, Micheal Walsh, Charles Dalton, Eoin Kennedy, 1-3, Conor Coughlan, Paul O Carroll, 1-2, Padraig Ruddle, Tom Mulvihill. The visitors took the game to their opponents early on with a well taken goal which say them lead at the interval, 0-3 to 1-4. 10 minutes on resumption Knock lost one of their leading players after receiving his marching orders and this led to the home side enjoying a good spell. However Knock re-grouped and were full value for their 2 point wind at the final whistle. COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-14  Kilgarvin 4-11

Kilgarvan made the long trip to Walsh Park worthwhile on Saturday evening last where they recorded a surprise 6 point victory over the home side in a well contested encounter. Asdee got off to a great start and a Paul O Carroll goal after 5 minutes saw then go into a 7 point lead at the end of the first quarter. However a disallowed goal a few minutes earlier didn't help the cause and some sloppy play led to the visitors getting in for 2 goals and at the half time whistle only a point seperated the sides in Asdees favour. With a few minutes gone in the second half Kilgarvan struck again for further goals, one from play and the other from the penalty spot. Asdee kept battling and cut the deficit to 2 points only for Kilgarvan to pull away again. Both sides exchanged points during the last few minutes but it was the visitors who held on for victory.Paul O Carroll, Eoin Kennedy, Brian Coughlan, Padraig Ruddle and Brian O Hanlon were best on the evening. COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee B 2-6 Knocknure 1-9

Our Junior footballers travelled to Knockanure on Thursday last to take on the locals in Round 2 of the North Kerry League, Division 5, 13 a side and at the end of a trilling encounter the league points were shared. It was nip and tuck during the opening half. Asdee got off to a flyer with John Long and Micheal Walsh finding the net, Knockanure rallied scoring some good points and at the interval Asdee led 2-2 to 0-7. The home side had slightly the better of the second half and a goal after 10 minutes put them in the driving seat. However Asdee kept plugging away and when all seemed lost John Kennedy came to his sides rescue with two late pointed frees to snatch a share of the league points. Team, Jimmy Quinn, Tomas Walsh, Sean Stack, John Gorman, Jack Scanlon, Tom Mulvihill, 1pt, Kieran McElligott, John Long, 1gl, Niall Doran, Donal O Carroll, Micheal Walsh, 1gl, John Kennedy, 5pts, Dan Kearney. Sub Moss O Hanlon.

COUNTY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-12  Laune Rangers, B. 1-14.

Played at the J P O Sullivan Park, Killorglin on Sunday last Asdee senior footballers got their County league Division 5 campaign off the ground and after holding an 8 point interval lead went down by a 2 point margin at the end. The game got off to the best possible start for the visitors who played some scintillating football when aided by the breeze and a Padraig Ruddle goal had Asdee in complete control after the opening 30 minutes leading 1-8 to 0-4. However the home side got their act together on the resumption and clawed away at Asdees lead and with under 10 minutes had drawn level. Then in a ding dong finish the home side struck for 2 late points to snatch those valuable league points. Overall an encouraging display by Asdee who can look forward to their remaining County League games with plenty confidence. Team, Jamie Kelly, Kieran McElligott, Charles Dalton, David Ruddle, Mike Long, Brian O Hanlon, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Noel Long, 1pt, John Doran, Donal O Carroll, 1pt, Conor Coughlan, Micheal Walsh, Brian Coughlan, Eoin Kennedy, 7pts, Padraig Ruddle, 1-2. Subs, Kenneth Tydings for Conor Coughlan, Jack Scanlon for Donal O Carroll, Cathal Dalton.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 2-7. Ballyduff, 4-13

Our senior footballers continue in search of their first North Kerry league points after going down on this occasion to Ballyduff after a rather one sided game in which the home side were always in command of the situation; but in fairness Asdees play did improve during the second half but not enough to trouble a very strong home outfit who were full value for their 12 point win. Asdee had wind advantage in the opening half but could never get off the ground as Ballyduff took full advantage of an understrength visiting side and led at the interval by 2-6 to 0-3. During the second half Asdee did have some good periods of dominance and worked hard but the home side were always able to up the tempo of their game when needed and a feature of their game during that final 30 minutes was the long range point kicking. Midfielder John Doran and substitute Cathal Dalton got second half goals for Asdee but it was far from enough and Ballyduff were fully deserving winners at the final whistle. John Doran and Jack Scanlon did well at midfield while in defence Noel Long, Charles Dalton, Brian Coughlan and goalkeeper, James Kelly worked hard. Up front, Eoin Kennedy, Padraig Ruddle and Jermiah Tydings impressed. Ballyduff had a team of All Stars and to mention a few; The Boyle brothers, Liam, Mikie and Aidan, Tomas O Rourke, Barry O Grady, Gary O Brien, Ronan O Connor and I could go on; each of those mentioned were on top of their game. Their scorers were; Barry O Grady, 1-4, Mikie Boyle, 6pts, Tomas O Rourke, 1-2, Liam Boyle, 1-1, Eddie Joy, 1gl. Asdee team and scorers; James Kelly, Micheal Hayes, Charles Dalton, David Ruddle, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Noel Long, Brian Coughlan, John Doran, 1-1, Jack Scanlon, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts, Eoin Kennedy, 3pts, Darren Russell, Donal O Carroll, Padraig Ruddle, Kenneth Tydings. Sub, Cathal Dalton, 1gl for Darren Russell.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-7 Ballylongford 1-9

O Rahilly Park on Sunday last was the venue for this latest local derby clash, this time in the North Kerry League, Division 2 encounter between these two great rivals. Both teams went into this round 4 game pointless but at the end of what was a closely contested game that could have very well gone either way it was the home who seems to have the Indian sign over their fellow parishioners who emerged victorious at the final whistle. Certainly Asdee will rue at least 3 clear goal opportunities that got away during the second half, but in fairness the Bally keeper Barthley O Connell was on top of his game coming to his sides rescue on each occasion. The game was always going to be a tight affair and during the opening half defences were well on top which made scoring at a premium and at the break after Bally went 6pts clear Asdee came back to leave the half time score 6pts to 3pts in Ballys favour. On the changeover the home side got in for a goal after 6mts of play finished in style by Eddie Mangan leaving the score now 1-6 to 0-3 in Ballys favour and it looked as if this would be the spur to drive the home side on; however the visitors dug deep and some powerful play led to some good scores being taken and when Liam McElligott converted a penalty with just 12 minutes remaining the deficit was now down to a single point. Tension was high at this stage with the play swinging from end to end and each player fought for every ball as if their lives depended on it and when substitute Donal O Carroll swung over a well taken point to level matters in the 26th minute of this half the game was now in the melting pot. But Bally weathered the storm and that extra bit of cuteness was to tell and when that final whistle sounded they had just about made the journey and collected their first North Kerry League points with a narrow and just about deserved 2pts winning margin.

Team, James Kelly, Kieran McElligott, Brian Coughlan, Charles Dalton, Paul O Carroll, Noel Long, John Long, John Doran, Micheal Walsh, Liam McElligott, 1gl, Eoin Kennedy, 3pts, Conor Coughlan, Kenneth Tydings, Padraig Ruddle, 1pt, Jermiah Tydings, 2pts.Subs, Donal O Carroll, 1pt for Micheal Walsh, Darren Russell for Kenneth Tydings, Jack Scanlon for Conor Coughlan

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-4 Knocknagoshel 1-11

Asdee conceded home venue for this encounter and certainly left their true form at home as they went down to much more balanced and determined Knocknagoshel side in a poor game played in Walsh Park, Knocknagoshel on Saturday evening last. The home side in fairness had the majority of the play throughout with the visitors playing catch-up football and they could never come to terms with the fast flowing football of their opponents who in the end won as they pleased. Inside the opening quarter Knock had put 1-3 without reply on the scoreboard and at the break had gone further ahead when they led 1-6 to 0-2. On the changeover it was pretty much the same story with Knock calling all the shots and the visitors clinging on. With 10 minutes to go Asdee got a reprieve when Jermiah Tydings struck for a well taken goal but this was as good as it got for Asdee as the home side regained superiority once more and ran out very deserving winners in the end.Asdee lined out as follows. James Kelly, Mike Long, John Long, David Ruddle, Paul O Carroll, Charles Dalton, Kieran McElligott, John Doran, Micheal Walsh, Jermiah Tydings, Eoin Kennedy, Padraig Ruddle, Conor Coughlan, Jack Scanlon, Kenneth Tydings. Subs used, Noel Long, Micheal hayes, Donal O Carroll, Cathal Dalton.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee 1-8 Brosna 2-8

Our senior footballers put up a magnificent second half performance before going down to a fancied Brosna side by a 3 point margin played at Walsh Park on Sunday last. The home side once again understrength for the occasion were finding it difficult to come to terms with the power play of the visitors who were on top of their game during the opening 30 minutes scoring some good points and their goal coming midway which saw them lead at the interval by 1-5 to 0-2. On the changeover Asdee now with the aid of the breeze were gaining plenty possession but were finding it hard to put scores on the board and by the end of the 3rd quarter Brosna had scored a further goal and were now leading by 2-6 to 3pts and the home side looked in deep trouble; however with nothing to loose at this stage Asdee threw caution to the wind and put in a storming last 10mts. Substitute Conor Coughlans goal with under 7mts left for play set up a hectic finish and with just a few minutes remaining and the home team pressing they cut the deficit to just a 2pt margin. However Brosna with virtually the last kick of the game sealed victory with a last minute point and valuable North Kerry League points. Without doubt this was yet another encouraging team display by Asdee especially in the second half and if the team can continue to improve we can look forward to successful County League which would be our priority competition. On the day, Eoin Kennedy led the attack with some style scoring 5pts of his sides total. Padraig Ruddle and Jermiah Tydings also shone up front. Others to impress were the half back line of the Long brothers, John, Noel and Mike and Brian Coughlan. Team and scorers, James Kelly, Paul O Carroll, Charles Dalton, David Ruddle, Noel Long, John Long, Mike Long, John Doran, Micheal Walsh, 1pt, Jermiah Tydings, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy, 5pts, Padraig Ruddle, 1pt, Kenneth Tydings, Jack Scanlon, Brian Coughlan. Sub Conor Coughlan,1gl, for Jack Scanlon.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Asdee, 1-5 Ballydonoghue, 2-9

Played at Dowling Park Coolard on Sunday last in Round 1, Division 2 of the North Kerry League the home team were always in control of the situation and even though only a point separated the sides at the interval with Ballydonoghue having the lions share of possession they were clearly the better team and could so easily have this game wrapped up at this stage but for some wayward shooting. However Asdees play did improve a little during the third quarter but once Ballydonoghue got to grips again they upped the tempo of their game and were full value for their 7 point victory at the final whistle. The game opened with both teams missing a number of regulars through one reason or another and certainly Ballydonoghue struggled big time in attack where they missed the services of Paul Kennelly on Kerry Under 21 duty and Eamon Walsh. However by the time Eoin Kennedy had opened the scoring for the visitors with a free in the 15th minute but Ballydonoghue had 3 points on the board with Padraig Bunyan, 2pts and Eddie Houlihan on target. At this stage Ballydonoghue with 80% of the play were struggling to hit the target and at the interval the visitors were well in the game with only a point separating the sides. Ballydonoghue, 0-4 Asdee0-3. Within 2 minutes on the restart Asdee had a golden opportunity of leveling up the contest but over elaboration cost them and when the ball broke loose Martin O Mahony collected and with a confident solo run through the middle, placed the ever elusive Danny Kennelly who made no mistake giving James Kelly little chance with a well placed shot to the back net. Withdoubt this was the turning score of the game; what if Asdee had leveled up the game who knows but that they could have gone on to repeat the result of last years encounter over the same opposition; but even though the visitors play did improve a little they could never get close enough to threaten a better balanced home side who had Colin O Mahony, Daniel Kennelly, John Enright, Martin O Mahony and Ger o Gorman in top form. Both Eoin Kennedy and John Kennelly exchanged goals in the closing stages as the game fizzled out and when referee John Ross blew for full time well into injury time those North Kerry Division 2 League points went to the deserving victors. Overall Asdee couldn't complain with the end result but in fairness the team did quite well and Brian O Hanlon, Brian Coughlan and David Ruddle did well at the back, John Doran and Noel Long held their own at midfield while in attack Eoin Kennedy, Jermiah Tydings and Liam McElligott were the pick. Team and scorers, James Kelly, Paul O Carroll, Brian O Hanlon, David Ruddle, Kieran McElligott, Charles Dalton, Brian Coughlan,John Doran, Noel Long, Liam McElligott, Padraig Ruddle, Micheal Walsh, Kenneth Tydings, Eoin Kennedy, 1-5, Jermiah Tydings. Subs, Jack Scanlon for Micheal Walsh, Donal O Carroll for Kenneth Tydings, Micheal Hayes for Brian Coughlan.
