| Our
senior footballers suffered defeat
at the final hurdle on Sun last
at Ballylongford where they went
down to a more fired up Clounmacon
side
who were very deserving at the final
whistle/
The opening half was evenly contested
with little between two evenly matched
teams. Defences were on top and
scores were hard to come
by. Asdee went into the lead in
the 21st mt when Paul O Carroll
whipped over his 3rd point of the
half. However it was Clounmacon
who led
at the break by 5pts to 3pts. On
resumption Clounmacon quickly got
into their stride getting early
scores and as the half wore on it
was very evident that Asdee were
in dire trouble .Clounmacon tagged
on the necessary points and at the
final whistle were just simply too
good. Over all after a bright start
to the game Asdee gave a most disappointing
display in the 2nd half.

Championship Quarter Final
Asdee
Vs Beale
At
Coolard 16th September
Asdee 1-08 :: Beale 0-07
|
|
Played
at Coolard Asdee left their recent
poor form behind them to grind out
a hard earned but fully deserved 4pt
victory at the end of a well contested
encounter. During a poor 1st half
performance it looked like that poor
run would continue as Beale dominated
but Asdee hung in their and were only
2pts adrift at the break 0-4 to 0-2.
On resumption the Asdee boys moved
up a gear and a 10th mt goal by Paul
O' Carroll set us up for victory.
Further points followed and even a
penalty miss late in the half could
not deprive us of a sweet victory.

The
visitors were always in control and
led 1-11 to 0-3 at the break. The
home team suffered a severe blow just
before the break when Danny
Finucane suffered a knee injury and
had to retire. The second half was
just a stroll with Ballyduff using
their full quota of substitutes and
there was never a doubt about the
final outcome.

The
gulf in class between top and bottom
in the County League local derby clash
at Walsh Park was very much in evidence
as Bally after
a shaky enough opening 10mts strolled
to an 18 point victory which kept
their promotiom hopes very much alive.
Danny Finucane got the home side off
to a great start with a fine point
in the opening minute however this
was short lived as Bally struck for
a goal after just 2mts. By the half
time whistle that lead was extended
to 8pts 2 5 to 0-3, Ballys second
goal coming from the penalty spot
in the 29th mt
On resumption it was more of the same
with the visitors dominating throughout
and 3 further goals during the third
quarter sealed the issue.
Overall a poor contest with the home
side continuing their dismal County
League performances.

7th June in Mountcoal
Brosna 0-12 :: Asdee B 0-04 |

Played
at Mountcoal Asdee did have plenty
scoring opportunities but failed to
take them especially in the opening
half .So instead of being up at the
break we found ourselves 3pts to 6pts
in arrears at the interval. In fairness
even though we were having a rough
time of it during the
second half the team kept battling
away but our only reply was 1pt from
a free.Still the better team won.
Thomas Mulvihill was once again in
great form at wing back David O Connor
at Number 2 after a long lay off played
well as did James Kelly who brought
off some great saves in goals Donie
O Keeffe John Kennedy Dan Kearney
and Eamon Doran.

It was disappointing though that some
of the key players couldnt be present.

Emmets B 2-13 :: Asdee 1-01 |

Walsh
Park was the venue for this one sided
fixture Emmets led 1 6 to no score
at the interval.
Brian Coughlan with a high lobbing
ball that deceived the keeper and
ended up in the net after 7 minutes
and a pointed free by Mike Breen
in the 17th minute was our total for
the evening. Hard to say who played
well but Thomas Mulvihill Danny Finucane
and Brian Coughlan
did best. In fairness Asdee were without
our exam tied up boys but still a
very poor show.
Desmonds will provide the opposition

well contested game .
The sides were all square at the break

2nd half everything fell in to place
for the home side and
with Ger O Connor in great form they
finished deserving winners in the
