Sunday March 11th will see the commencement of the Credit Union County Senior Football League for 2007. St. Marys Asdee will be competing in Division 5 and after a fairly satisfactory 2006 campaign it is hoped that the year ahead will prove to be even better.The opening game will be a local derby with an attractive and eagerly awaited encounter against our fellow parishioners Ballylongford and certainly this encounter should draw the biggest attendance of the day to O Rahilly Park for this round 1, division 5 clash. Bally have been in this division for the past number of years and have been most unlucky not to get promotion on a few occasions,and when these sides clashed each year it was the boys in blue and white that always came out on top. This time round and after failing in a play off for promotion to division 4 last year, Bally will be all out to atone for that failure and will start as warm favourites to get over what might yet be a tricky enough hurdle. Asdee to their credit have been preparing hard for the year ahead over the winter months and will look forward to this game as another learning experience to cross swords with the bigger guns, they will be no added pressure on the team but thats not to say that a victory over our great rivals would prove to be a great morale boaster for
the remainder of the season.

Asdee will have five home games and six away and will be joined in this division by other North Kerry teams, Ballylongford, Moyvane St. Senans and Knocknagoshel and will cinsist of 11 rounds commencing on this Sunday and going through to the last round on the weekend of September 2nd to complete the competition.

The draw for this competition took place during the week and Asdee have been handed a tricky away tie to Listry.
The first round games are due to be played on the W/E of April 29th
Next round of the Buildstone League is against Moyvane at Walsh Park on W/E April 21st/22nd.
Back game against Emmets at Sheehy Park has not been refixed.

Our Senior footballers have their first outing for the 2007 season when they take on Ballydonoghue in round 1 Section A of the Buildstone League at Dowling Park Coolard on this Sunday February 25th with a starting time of 2pm. Having opted to play division 1 football this year after over a 10 year lay off it is indeed a tough assignment as our young side face into the unknown really, however this side has shown great character and wont be found wanting when the crunch comes; but on saying that nobody expects us to be world beaters overnight so there will be no added pressure on the team who should just go out there and enjoy themselves. This is a learning process and the experience gained from playing top class opposition im sure will stand to the team in the long run and hopefully success will follow in the not too distant future.

Certainly there has been a big effort in training put in by everybody and great credit is due to the management team of John Kennedy Sean Doran and Jim O Connor who have done trogan work with the team over the past 2 years which has now begun to come to fruitation.
